Beer Fest

For five years in a row Belgrade Beer Fest is held in August. For the first three times it was held at the Kalemegdan Fortress and as the festival grew bigger it was moved to the Usce (confluence) to a much bigger space.

I went there on 10th of August for the opening night. I can say that it was quite good but I think it cannot be compared to the previous years. Maybe I wasn't in a good company. Maybe! ( Some people that went there with me thought that festival is still taking place at Kalemegdan.

The journey starts at Zeleni Venac in the crowded bus full of young people standing on each other's head and a few old geezers doing there best to find their way through the jungle of youngster in order to reach for the seat.

When we get there the most of the time we spent at Niksicko beer stand, because I like their dark beer and it wasn't easy to find a dark beer at the Beer Festival. Later we were joined by a couple of friends who were only interested to get drunk! But at the end what is the point of the cheap beer!

The second part of the night we spent at the Jelen Beer stand and then we went near the stage to listen to one of my favorite bands Negative.

I think this is my first and last night at the Belgrade Beer Fest because I have to study a lot for my upcoming exams.

At the end: it could have been better.

Walk away now and you're gonna loose a war

If that blondie from Sex and the city writes about relationships, I write about life and friendships. But my blog is not about life coaching!

How our past is important for our future? I don't live in the past, but I try to analise every mistake I have made and I try to learn something from it.
I learned a lot from mistakes I have made, from jobs I have lost, from things I have said.

There is too much competition and temptation among people, maybe that is the process of the modern natural selection, maybe if you don't succeed or if you don't reach a certain level / standard in certain time frame means - you are a failure?! Your principles, attitude, opinions and ideas wont get you anywhere, well at least in this country and in this system.
So, get rid of the attitude, principles and new ideas! Just follow the pattern! Don't speak and think much! Hide your ambition before it gets killed from the competition!
Showing your capabilities will not get you promoted, you will be put in the shadow in order not to bring in danger your superiors!

We are all different, we all have different plans, some of us live from today to tomorrow, some of us have long lasting plans and goals to reach. We have different priorities and different ways to solve problems...so lets not compare each other.

I am following my path and I am walking towards my goals.
I am prepared to fail but I want to know I tried!

Well, maybe, one day...who knows...

Out of Belgrade

Listening to the Killers while writing this post....Are we human or are we dancer or are we homo-politcos or homo-idiotes? That's something to keep you busy. :)

On July 6th I was in Popinci, a village north of Belgrade in Srem region. I was travelling there with my grandmother, it usually takes 45 minutes to get there, but because she loves to do everything early we left the house at 7 am, meaning 4 hours earlier than planned and usually needed time to get there.

The trip was an adventure through Serbian public transportation system, changing buses with old folks that are running to get a free seat and trowing their bags on it, from a 1 meter distance. Batajnica, one of the stops we made, I found it a bit too undeveloped and with some strange people living there so I was more than happy when our bus came and we were on our way to Stara Pazova.

On the road between Stara Pazova and Popinci I felt like time stopped there or that we even went few years back in time! The bus was very old, the tickets were still sold by the bus driver, bus stops were still rusty and old, the bus doors couldn't be properly closed which was an advantage because this way is less hot in the bus because wind goes in and out ,as of course, there is no air conditioning.

We arrived in Popinci (Popintsi), nothing changed there in ages and I haven't been there for a very long time, I think it could even be up to the 3 years since my last visit.

But pictures speak better then words - see it for yourself!

Olja and Michael we salute you!

Weekly update

Last two weeks I had to study for my exams that why I posted when of my speeches and I will be doing the same in the future when I don't have time to write or I am too busy studying. :)

These several weeks were very fun with lots of partying and seeing old friends. But not Dunja Radovic partying stile you can not beat her at that. :)

PARTY TIME

First party I attended after a long time was the party organized by the Club for the United Nations, this club operates at my faculty, Faculty of Political Sciences. The party was held at the club Noir in the Knez Mihailova street (the main street). I went there with Nebojsa and Milena aka Serbian Carry Bradshaw as she requested me to call her on my blog.
Milena Djilas aka Serbian Carry Bradshaw

The party was fun, but not so much fun because I dint like the music. I like to listen House or Rock music. At the club they played some too old house and after it Serbian turbo folk with some old 90s song. I couldn't stand it any more, so when the 90s music started I putted my own earphones and I started to listen my own music i.e The Killers and James Morrison. We left the club at 3am.

I was also invited to Spartanac promo party but I missed it because of the Exams.

UNIVERSITY

After long, long, long time ago I went to University I had few errands to do. I finished in a couple of minutes and the rest of the time I spent with Alexandar aka Rakus and Djordje in the Uni's main classroom. While speaking with them, which is always fun, I discovered that Alexandar is really funny, open-minded and unique and interesting person.

FRIENDS

For the weekend I met with Zorana and Sofija. Zorana and I went to our favorite place - Philip. We had a dark beer and enjoyed catching up. We like Philip because you can always find a spot there and the music they play is modern pop.

On Saturday I had a walk along the river with Sofija. Sofija is absolutely the best person I know. She is someone I hold in high esteem and I firmly believe that people like Sofija could not be met twice.

Improvizovana beseda izgovorena na javnom ćasu u Dečijem kulturnom centru.

Ultimate Urban

... or how not to live a rural life in Belgrade. Sounds difficult?

Since I am living in country that is mainly rural, so are all those who try to live a urban life are condemn to fail. For the beginning here is a definition of urban culture. Having read this we learned that the urban is a culture and the way of life in the cities.

Thanks to mainly rural population suddenly being urban in Serbia has negative connotation. Many people identify fancy people with urban ones, which is big difference fancy is just a trend and it will pass soon. Fancy is urban wanna be! :)

Living an urban life in my opinion means to follow the city events, going to the theatre, going to the cinema, listening to normal music, going to normal clubs, being educated and open minded, know how to make a conclusion by yourself!

You can lead a really metropolitan and lets say modern life also in Belgrade. There are so many clubs to go such as: Sikara, Sikarica, Batler, Francuska sobarica, Povetarac, Freestyler, Sound, Scatch...
You can watch cheap plays at Atelje 212.

If you just try a bit you will find out that there is a lot of thing to do in this city and that many of them are free. You can read about city events at http://www.citymagazine.rs During the summer there are a lot of festivals you can go.

I know it is easier to fit in, but don't accept something that promotes stupidity and absolute absence of common sense and normal behaviour even though if you will have more friends that way! Be unique!

It is time to resist the rural wave that is coming to our city!!

Belgrade is New York of the Balkans!
